Somatic Emotional Integration approaches healing as a gentle partnership between breath and body, while sensory exploration and communication between client and facilitator is tracked to assess where trauma may be stored in the body. Many of us have entrained the body into reverse breathing, where the breath is forced out of the body. Breathing is designed to be effortless, something the body knows how to do on it's own. It is not something we have to force to make happen. In this process, we learn how to trust our body enough to breath and perhaps trust ourselves to enter more deeply into the body. The release of patterns of trauma, which may have long been held in the body, are replaced by the freedom of healing. No longer will the body have to compensate for holding on to a past trauma still held in the memory of our cells.
